With trying to get through the final stages of being pre-approved for a house, my wallet could use the break also. My plan is to start back going in the spring to lose the pounds I’m not able to do on my own and to tone up. I love, love my trainer, but I just need to shift my focus right now. If I keep with the same principles she’s used to get me this far, I know that I can meet my goal. In order to get the results I want to see, I have to push harder and beyond my comfort zone.

I decided to get some of the Turbo Jam Elite dvds. So far, I have the Fat Blaster, Totally Tubular, and Cardio Party Mix 3. I was able to get them BRAND NEW for a great deal on Ebay. I’ve tried Fat Blaster so far and boy is it a workout! It kinda reminds me of Turbo Fire. I think this will be an awesome workout to prep me for my next level of fitness, Turbo Fire.

I'm proud to say that I ended 2012 on a good note, down more pounds than I started the year at and overall in a good place. I’ve still been going to my trainer. I’ve lost 15 pounds and lost 20+ inches since starting with her in October; go me! My eating over the holidays wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. I gained 4 pounds while I was out. In the last week, I’ve caught some type of nasty virus, so I don’t eat as much as I should. That being the case, I haven’t been able to exercise, so hopefully I will be able to do something from home tonight.

For 2013, I’ve set some goals to give me some type of accountability on this journey.

Feb 14 - 13lbs by Vday (random short term goal)
April 2 - 20 more lbs by my birthday
June 2 - 15 lbs Family vacay with mom, sis husbands and kiddies.
Sept 1 - 21 lbs Dh's birthday

At any given time I will be, counting calories, low carbing, working out with a trainer 3 days a week and doing my own exercise in my free time. I hope that I will reach my goal sooner, but these dates are realistic for me.

I'm so excited about what's in store for 2013!Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-59395508975205499262012-10-10T14:27:00.004-05:002012-10-10T14:27:39.932-05:00Finally....I have a personal trainer. Yay! Wendy is a 52 year old lady (that looks 30 something), who’s very passionate about her job. I was referred to her by a co-worker who has lost weight and looks amazing after training with her. Her 3 principles for successful weight loss are determination, discipline and consistency. She believes that eating right and exercising go hand in hand, neither is more important than the other. There is a 7 day detox period where no meats or sugar is allowed. I know that I can overcome this sugar addiction, because I did it with Atkins earlier this year.

She totally won me over after she told me that she could help me get rid of my mommy tummy (post c-section belly). She said that I have the right frame; I just need to bring it in. I am too stoked! As for my schedule, I will be working out with her on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. I am going to work out at least once a week from home. Ideally, I would like to do 2 workouts on this day since it's the only day I will work out at home.

My short-term goal is to lose 20 pounds before the year is out and my long-term goal is to have all of this excess weight off by summer 2013. I think I'm finally on the right track. :)Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-68598091914905338502012-08-06T09:10:00.002-05:002012-08-06T09:16:33.967-05:00Smoothies....My New Love

I love smoothies! I never thought I’d be able to say that. Now, I dislike the smoothies with the milkshake texture, but I love the ones with the slushy texture. The key to getting the slushy texture is to use more ice.

I have wanted to try the at-home smoothies for quite some time. So on Monday I decided to give them try. I've had some frozen canned Chiquita smoothies in my freezer for the longest time, so that's what I used. These things have been in the freezer so long that I hope they're not discontinued. Anywho, I tried Peach Mango and added some kale and unsweetened pineapple juice. They were so delish! I was able to get 3 servings from the one can. I have one can remaining and it's the Berry Blend flavor. When I blend my last can, I think I will add spinach to the mix as well.

I have emailed the company asking if it's discontinued or not. I'm still waiting on a response. I have the Jamba Juice smoothie packs in the freezer that I am going to try as well.
Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-5169601082817359482012-08-02T12:14:00.008-05:002012-08-02T13:06:28.385-05:00Just Going with the FlowIt's been a looong time since I've blogged, so here's an update...

I went on a family vacay last month with my mom, stepdad, 2 sisters, brother-in-law, nieces and nephew, my husband and our kids. We had a great time. When my sis (the one with the kids) and I were growing up, my mom made it a MUST that she take us somewhere during our summer vacation. I plan to start this tradition with my family as well. Pics coming....

I'm back to working out on a regular basis. I even plan on trying a session with a personal trainer. If all goes well, I will purchase more sessions.

My knee has been giving me some slight pain since vacay. I tried the 20 min Turbo Jam and it put too much pressure on my knee, so I've been doing low-impact exercises via the YMCA, dvds and my treadmill so that I won't put too much stress on it. Last time my knee was inflamed, my PCP prescribed Naproxen. I hate taking the Naproxen regularly, so I am hoping that I can discuss this with the trainer next week to see how/if I can rehab it.

I had my annual "Well Woman's Checkup" last month and to my surprise, I haven't gained any pounds. Although, I've maintained, that's not good when you have a lot to lose. I am aiming to lose 30-50 pounds before the NEW YEAR.

I've been kinda, sorta low-carbing it, but not really. My primary focus is to get at least 3-5 servings of fruit and veggies in daily. I have found that I can knock out a couple of those servings with smoothies. More on those smoothies later...

My baby boy is 16 months old, busy and into everydamnthing within reach. He's gonna whip me into shape if the trainer doesn't, for sure!

Today, my sis (my workout buddy) and I will be taking our "BEFORE" pictures and measurements to share once we reach goal. She started the Turbo Fire Hybrid this week. Go Britt!

In a nutshell, that is what's up with me!Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-24254880391118244222012-05-16T15:43:00.000-05:002012-05-16T15:43:14.583-05:00No Scales Allowed

As far as eating goes, March was a horrible month for me. My son's 1st birthday was March 24th and my birthday was April 2nd. Not to mention, Easter....So you can imagine the amount of sweets that were floating through my home. Surprisingly enough, I'm only up 2 pounds for the month of March; thank goodness!

I'm trying new recipes because I find that eating the same things over and over again the same way, gets boring. For example, last night I made a single-serve pizza with sausage in place of the dough. It was really good, next time I want to use more veggies. I'd also like to try the low-carb version of chicken parmesan and fried chicken tenders with egg batter.

Anywho, I'm on day 3 and still haven't cheated. Last week I only exercised once and didn't quite eat the Atkins way. To make matters worse, yesterday was Love Day, so I HAD to eat chocolate, right? Am I upset about the lack of effort? Nope! In the past when I've gotten off track, it was hard to get back on because I would be so disappointed in myself. I now believe that when I don't quite do what I should, it's ok.....Not because I wanted the junk food more than I wanted to lose weight, but because I have a made up mind to lose weight this time for good. Knowing that I am not perfect and will have slips ups is all part of this journey. I am chosing to learn from my mistakes and move past them, rather than make excusues and dwell on what I could've and should've done. I hope you will do the same! : )

Last night's exercise consisted of 20 min Turbo Jam and TurboFire - Fire 55 EZ Class/Stretch. I didn't make it through the entire TurboFire workout, but my sister kept me motivated to PUSH as far as I did. After our workout, I wanted to have breakfast for dinner, so I had an omelete with spinach and cheese with 2 sausage patties, followed by an apple cider vinegar, grapefruit juice cocktail. The grapefruit juice isn't Atkins approved, but because of past success with this cocktail, I want to see if I still experience weight loss in conjunction with Atkins.Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-48511073875709073162012-02-01T10:33:00.004-06:002012-02-01T10:58:43.627-06:00Beautiful New Blog Theme!!I'm so excited to have my new blog design! I must say that I’m loving the Atkins lifestyle change! I’ve slipped up here and there, but, for the most part I stick to the plan 90% of the time. Buuut, I’m trying to get to 100%. I don’t know how much weight I’ve shed, but I do know that it’s pounds AND inches based on how my pants are all saggy in the bootay area. My weight has fluctuated so much that I’m not 100% sure of the exact amount that I’ve lost. I’ll just wait until I’m 30 days in to confirm the numbers.

I just ordered the new book “The New Atkins for a New You” from Ebay. If there was one downfall that I want to overcome, it would be finding creative ways to cook the same foods so that they don’t bore me out. Hopefully the new book will assist me in that area. Other than that, I’m alright. I started Atkins on January 3 in the Induction phase. Because I haven’t been 100% like I should, I’ve extended the Induction phase through to February 7. At that point, I will move on to Phase 2 of Atkins. It’s my wish that I have continued success with Atkins and soon, I hope to reveal a new and better me.

Have a great weekend!
Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-15467115518111842992012-01-06T17:01:00.006-06:002012-01-09T12:08:45.405-06:002012 Plan of Action<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 184px; height: 102px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGeiuiI1y08IG8sFOftCefyoPbQGEv6MlJaZYrUrLGo74ST634HizmSj61SBrZbFyWtj8c5odoJmmk8uFYafhDzZreK5aoDpsiDR9HpAiQkhFeLJRkaJozt5LKHUJoHVO21WnCdf3cZ4w/s400/MC900432640.PNG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695695425920813874" />

Things to do in 2012

New blog design – I want something that’s more personable.

Clever post topics (i.e. Moody Monday) – Sometimes I have no clue what some of my topics should be; I’ve seen other bloggers use this style and me likey!

Post more consistently – Helps me to be accountable and I love writing.

Include other categories – I have a lot going on in my life besides trying to lose weight, why not share it?

Join the YMCA – They offer a wide selection of classes AND the biggest perk? I’m ready to see major loss in 2012. My long-term 2012 goal is to be out of the 200’s (YIKES!) by my wedding anniversary, October 25, 2012. My short-term goal is to lose 25 pounds by my birthday, April 2, 2012. To begin, I started the Atkins diet on Tuesday, January 3. In the past, I’ve tried lowering my calories and exercising as a weight loss method, to no avail. I’m thinking that as I get older, my body isn’t very carb friendly, so that’s why I want to give Atkins a try.

For fitness, I attempted to do Turbo Fire, but quickly had to stop. Go BRITT! On that note, I am for sure, SURE going to start Turbo Fire next Monday (December 12). She will be my workout partner, as she was prior to college. Years ago when we were excercising together, it was much easier for me to stay on task because we were each other's cheerleader. I'm so happy she's coming back!

Sooo I haven't exercised, exercised but I have been active. I have been super busy with my precious baby boy, winter cleaning and shopping. I even started stair climbing while I'm at work since my time is so limited when I get home.

My eating hasn't been out of control, but I can do a lot better. My pants are fitting looser in the butt area, BUT (no pun intended), for some odd reason my stomach seems like it's poking out more. I'm hoping that my eyes are playing tricks on me....Or maybe the extra water I've been drinking....Whatever the reason, it HAS to go!

I still haven't started working out in the morning prior to going to work. That's something that I KNOW has to change. If I could ACTually do it, I'd be further in this weight loss journey. I have been going to bed earlier, so that's a start in the right direction.
Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-13785089248374367582011-11-23T12:24:00.001-06:002011-11-23T12:59:16.192-06:00Getting it Right
Last week, I only exercised on Saturday. The good thing is that Saturday started a trend of consistency; I exercised Sunday and Monday as well. Go me, go me! I’ve been doing HIIT on my treadmill to get my cardio in, since I haven't been able to stick to the Turbo Jam calendar. I am hoping to get my hands on Turbo Fire over the Thanksgiving weekend. After ordering it on Ebay and the seller being a rip-off, I wasn’t motivated to try buying it again. Hopefully, I’ll be able to start it on Monday if everything goes as planned.

A few meals I've had:

Noodle stir-fry w/ veggies and chicken

Chopped chicken breast, baby spinach, shredded cheese, and mustard on Oroweat Thin

Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-81796727377816434662011-11-23T12:14:00.004-06:002012-01-31T22:23:30.846-06:00What a Time...When we finally have a plan and getting things on track, life has a way of knocking you back a few steps....My DS (dear son) was hospitalized on November 12 for an eyelid infection. Poor baby had to stay there for two days, that's how bad it was. Thankfully, with 10 days of antibiotics the swelling went down and he was back to his normal activities. As if that wasn't enough, the day we got home, he started coughing. SN: The nurse did say that his immune system was suppressed because of his eyelid infection. Now he has bronchitis, a virus. Apparently a lot of kids are getting it because of this crazy weather. We have to give him a puff of an inhaler every 4-6 hours to help with his coughing. Other than that, he's doing great. Hubby and I won't be doing a lot of traveling to Thanksgiving dinners on tomorrow. Doc said it’s best to only send DS to the babysitter and home. He will be going to his granny's and I MAY go to my mom's for dinner, since there won't be many people there.

Needless to say the week he came home, I didn't do one single exercise. However, my diet has been on point. That's the latest...Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-17176524360444896102011-11-03T12:21:00.003-05:002011-11-03T12:48:11.987-05:00Finally...I started Turbo Jam last night! Since I'm so late in the week starting, I will let Sunday and Monday serve as rest days and Tuesday - Saturday will be my workout days. That being said, I have to makeup the 20 minute workout and Ab Jam that I didn't do on Wednesday, because I was busy making up the workout for Tuesday. I'm going to try to squeeze in one of the two missed workouts this evening.

Today got off to a slow and late start. *I knew there was a reason why my sleep felt so good. I didn't pack my lunch last night, so I have to figure out what I'm going to grab for lunch. I'm thinking maybe a grilled chicken salad. Hmmmm...Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-13368413250115648002011-11-02T16:18:00.005-05:002011-11-02T16:40:04.150-05:00I didn't start Turbo Jam
See what had happened was....This little guy kept me busy and then he had the nerve to go to sleep on me in MY bed!!

Seriously I didn't start Turbo Jam last night. On one of my previous posts a couple of years ago, I talked about the success I had with it. Eventually, I plan on doing a juice fast once or twice a week to see some weight loss. I'm already behind on 1 workout, but I'm still going to PUSH. I will be doing the 20 min workout and Ab Jam this evening. To stay on track with my diet, a trip to the grocery is definitely needed!

Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-81883775119470952082011-10-20T11:02:00.003-05:002011-10-20T11:56:26.230-05:00Making up for lost timeLast week I burned 710 calories. *Booooo! I have myself to blame, because I only exercised twice. This week I started out by making up a Couch-2-5k that I didn't get in last week. As of today, I am on track with my Couch-2-5k workouts. I decided that I am going to stick with the Week 3 protocal for the duration of the program. My knees can't handle what week 4 was trying to do.

So far for the week, I've exercised 3 days. * Go me! I stopped tracking calories burned on Tuesday because my HRM was tripping. However, on Monday I do know that I burned 610 calories because of the C25k workout that I had to makeup on top of my regular C25k workout. My focus now, is to workout at least 5 days a week. Anything more than that, is a bonus. Hopefully my HRM will cooperate with me today when I exercise.Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-16446833620422690062011-10-11T11:45:00.003-05:002011-10-11T11:57:02.093-05:00I Did That!Last week, I managed to burn 1,311; just 189 calories shy of my goal. This week, I hope to reach my goal of burning 1500 calories.

This week also marks week 3 of Couch-2-5k. I’m starting to notice that my clothes are fitting looser. Yay me! After this week, I won't be increasing my running duration to the amount that is required of the program. However, I will continue to do the program for the number of required weeks and just run for a shorter amount of time. I totally love Couch-2-5k!Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-45740822879221739502011-10-05T09:41:00.013-05:002011-10-05T10:04:25.960-05:00A Few Snacks and Meals I've had
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5660023324086343010" style="DISPLAY: block; Not toooo bad, but I’d like to at least get 4 days in from here on out. I also started Couch-2-5K on last week. I missed the last workout in the series and have to make it up at some point. But all in all, I must say that I like the program. I also incorporated Pilates Buns & Thigh dvd into rotation. It really gave my butt a good burn like it did when I first tried it years ago.

This week, I'm looking to get the Couch-2-5k workout in that I missed and trying to add Turbo Jam's Ab Jam into my rotation.

Workout Schedule wk of 9/26/11

Couch-2-5k – Burned 205 calories
20min Turbo Jam & Winsor Pilates Buns & Thighs – Burned 371 calories
Couch-2-5K – Burned 339

I burned a total of 915 calories for the week of 9/26/11. I would like to see that number increase to a minimum of 1500 weekly.Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2255152426736604498.post-40415494592367695832011-09-21T15:00:00.003-05:002011-09-21T15:04:25.324-05:00Just keeping it real....I’m tired of counting calories! I think I’m to a point in this journey where I can pick/eat close to goal w/o having to count, count. I have OFFICIALLY gotten bored with this aspect of losing weight. Maybe I’ll take a stab at taking pics of my food to see if that’s beneficial??? I would like to start exercising longer and more vigorously. I guess I'll be doing some interval training. From here on out (until I get bored), I won’t be posting my caloric consumption. However, I will continue to post my caloric burn but on a weekly basis. So far I've burned 435 and that's without exercising on Tuesday. We'll see how the rest of the week goes.Nyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13293938287808909956noreply@blogger.com0
